The Wright Music Building in Historic Nacogdoches
The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Music, a division of the College of Fine Arts, offers a wide variety of musical experiences to students in preparation for careers as music educators, accomplished performers, and as individuals who retain a lifetime appreciation of the value of music and arts to the cultural heritage of mankind and its importance to the essence of human existence. Among the musical organizations within the department of music are the Marching, Concert, Symphonic, and Jazz Bands; the percussion ensembles and SFA Steel Band; the A Cappella Choir, Choral Union, Women's Madrigal Singers; the Opera Theater Program; and the Orchestra of the Pines, a regional symphony orchestra that performs works of standard literature throughout the year.²
