This most recently constructed building at Stephen F. Austin State University houses the Telecommunications Center and the Department of Human Services. The Department of Human Services offers preparation, training, and a course of studies leading to a degree to students who desire careers and occupations offering services for human disabilities and rehabilitation. Special education, rehabilitation services, orientation and mobility, visual and hearing impairment, speech pathology, sign language, and counseling are some of the areas of instruction offered in the Department of Human Services. In addition to the Stanley Speech and Hearing Clinic, the Cole Audiological Clinic, and the Counseling Clinic, the Human Neuroscience Laboratory will be one of the nation's leading facilities for research into neurological factors related to disabilities. Graduates of the Department of Human Services are prepared to assume service and leadership roles in the East Texas and global community.²
